Curriculum - Infant Class

Challenge, enjoyment and creativity lie at the centre of our curriculum which is structured thematically in order to offer interesting and immersive learning experiences for our children. These are underpinned by well sequenced learning activities in each subject area, with a strong focus upon the acquisition of discrete phonics, early reading and maths skills allowing each child to learn more and remember more each day in a fun and enjoyable environment.

Our children's learning is linked to two distinct curriculums, the Early Years Curriculum for our Reception pupils, and the National Curriculum for our Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2) pupils, but there are also frequent times when all children come together to learn.

Please see below to find out more about our learning themes throughout the year. To find out more about the planned progression of skills and knowledge in each curriculum subject area which underpin these experiences please click on the relevant subject tag. You can also take a look at some of the fantastic learning produced by the children as part of their learning activities by selecting Children / Class Galleries / Infant Class Gallery.

Opportunities for outdoor learning are carefully integrated into planned activities, with pupils able to access our outdoor space, as well as Forest School. We also have a school garden which pupils are able to access as part of their curricular activities and playtime experiences.
