Design and Technology - Class 2

Our Class 2 Design & Technology (D&T) curriculum is based on the KAPOW curriculum, and runs on a four-year rolling programme to ensure a wide-range of topics, skills and knowledge progression. We study a variety of D&T topics over the course of Class 2 (3 per year), ranging from Food Technology and Textiles to Structures and Electronics. Design & Technology is studied every other half-term, opposite Art & Design. D&T is essential to living life as we know it, and our children are encouraged to think like Designers and Technicians; to analyse an issue, research possibilities, and solve problems by designing and creating. Children are then given time to evaluate and assess their creations, and consider improvements for next time. This allows them to not only enhance their technical knowledge, but also to explore their creativity and practical skills.
