RSE and PSHE- Class 1
At Earl Sterndale CE Primary School, we believe that Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) play a vital role in preparing children for life beyond the classroom. Through our vision of "Making Good Decisions Together", we aim to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to thrive academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
Our curriculum supports the development of the whole child, helping pupils to build positive relationships, understand and manage their emotions, celebrate diversity, stay safe and healthy, and become responsible members of their communities. Through both planned lessons and responsive teaching opportunities, children learn to navigate the opportunities and challenges of modern life with confidence, resilience and respect for others.
We use the Kapow Primary PSHE and RSHE curriculum, which is carefully adapted to meet the needs of our pupils and mixed-age classes. The curriculum is progressive and inclusive, enabling children to build their knowledge and understanding over time. Through a range of engaging topics, pupils learn about:
- Families and friendships
- Respectful relationships
- Physical and mental wellbeing
- Keeping safe, including online safety
- Personal development and citizenship
- Growing and changing
We aim to provide a curriculum that is accessible to all learners and enables every child to flourish. By the time our pupils leave Earl Sterndale, we want them to be confident, compassionate and responsible individuals who are well prepared for the next stage of their education and able to make positive contributions to society.
