Modern Foreign Languages (French) - Class 2

In Class 2, we learn French as our Modern Foreign Language. We introduce children to the basics of French through fun, interactive activities - songs, games, stories, and role-play - so they build confidence in speaking and listening while enjoying learning a foreign language. French is taught for three half-terms per year on a 4-year rolling curriculum, carefully planned to introduce children to a wide range of French vocabulary and grammar and to build on their prior knowledge. Having studied and lived in France, our teacher Mrs Cross is a confident French-speaker, and truly understands the importance and benefits of speaking another language and embracing other cultures.

Alongside our core French lessons, the last week of the half-term is a ‘bonus language’ session, where students get a taste of other languages such as Spanish, Italian, or German. These themed lessons spark curiosity, broaden cultural horizons, and show children the joy of multilingual learning.
